Makeup Look #3: Adele Inspired Champagne Look

Hello everyone, for look number three, I have chosen to do an Adele inspired champagne look. I believe this look is great on girls with  I believe this eye look would go great with all colored dresses but mostly patterned, red, pink and orange dresses like the ones illustrated below.

So here is the tutorial:

Primer: Here we are using a white primer because when you look at Adele's makeup, it is very light almost white on the eyelid. Therefore, to enhance this, we use a white primer instead of a skin toned primer.

Eyeshadow: For eyeshadow, we are using a light champagne color all over the lid with a soft brown in the crease to add slight definition followed by a slightly darker color in the outer corner. The goal of this look is to keep the eyelid very light in color to focus on the eyeliner.

Eyeliner: The eyeliner in this look is crucial. When you look at Adele, she always has a very large cat eyed winged out liner and this is what we are going for. Personally, I do not like to wing out my eyeliner for the simple reason that I believe it does not look good on me. But feel free to make it as large as you wish since this is the point of this look.

Contouring and Highlighting: The contouring and the highlighting for this step is the exact same as int he silver smokey eye look. We are using cool colors once again for this look which means you want to stay uniform on the face by using a pearl highlight.

Lips: Since the eyeshadow is a soft and light color, I decided to choose the lips as my focal point of the look. I chose two options, pink and red. I filled in my lips with a lip liner of both colors and then added lip gloss on top for a shine. The color option is up to you but remember to make it bright because this is the chosen focus point of the look.

Hope you guys enjoyed all my makeup tutorials and found then helpful with your decision of makeup for Prom.

Makeup Look #2 : Bronze Eye

Hello everyone, for look number two, I have chosen to do a bronze eye. I believe this look is great on girls with blue eyes and with a little tan. I believe this eye look would also go great with earth and nature toned coloured even sometimes red dresses like the ones illustrated below.

 So, here is the tutorial.

Eyeshadow: For this look, I used a bronze eyeshadow all over the lid. Then I applied a darker brown color in the crease to add definition. Then I went in with a copper color and also swept that in the crease to make the eyes have more of that sunset vibe. Finally I ended with a deep brown in the outer "v" to further define the eye.

Eyeliner: If you did not notice, there was no eyeliner in this look. This is because adding a black eyeliner would make the look more intense and harsh when the goal is to have a soft bronze/nude look to it.

Contouring: I used my bronzer and applied it in the "E-3" method. This method is applying bronzer on your temples, under your cheekbones and along your jaw. So with your brush you are making an "E" on one side of your face and a "3" on the other side of your face. Look at Beyonce down below where I have drawn on her face to illustrate this "E-3" method.

Highlighting: Here i used a bronze colored highlight called Sun Beam by Benefit. We used this highlight because it is a bronzed look and you want to stick with using warm colors to look uniform in color. Using this specific highlight will give you the illusion of your face glowing in the sun.

Lips: For this look, since we were using mostly nudes and warm colors, to keep it uniform I chose this warm pink nude color to finish the look.

This is look number one, I hope everyone enjoyed it.

Makeup Look #1 : Silver Smokey Eye

Hello Everyone, for look number one, I chose to do a smokey silver eye. I think this would look great for girls with dresses that are of deep colors like these illustrated below and also very light colored dresses like champagne.

Without further ado, here is the tutorial.

Eyeshadow: I chose to do a silver smokey look which consist of silver and black colors. So in that case, I am using a light silver color all over the lid. To add definition, I applied a deeper silver almost carbon black color in the crease. Then I took a black shimmery color and applied that in the outer corner. Once I did that, I put shimmer on the lid to make my eyes sparkle but this step is optional. Since it is Prom, you want to go crazy with the glitter.

Eyeliner: For eyeliner, I used a black liquid eyeliner because that is the one I like the most and I can control the best. Since this is a more intense look, the black eyeliner is essential. For the application, I used the method of starting in the center of the eyelid then went to the outside of my eye. Then once that part was finished, I went from the inner corner of the eye and connected it to the other half. This method makes it easier to get a clean straight line.

Highlighting: For a highlight on the face, I used a cool pearl color to stay uniform with the colors of my eyes. My eyeshadows are cool colors therefore we want to keep the face with cool colors. I applied this to my cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose and on my cupid's bow. You want to highlight the places that your face gets hit with the light to give the illusion of a glowing porcelain face.

Lips: For the lips, I decided to go with a soft pink to add a little touch of color. The reason I only used a lip gloss was because the focus of the makeup look was the eyes and I did not want to overdue the makeup to look like a clown.

This is the silver smokey eye, hope you guys liked it.

Eyes

Hello everyone! Today I will be telling you guys all about your eyes. I will show you how to apply eyeshadow, mascara and eye liner to insure you to look fabulous.

Eyeshadow
When applying eyeshadow, four colors are needed: one for your eye lid, one
for your crease, one for your outer corner and one for you brow bone. This is why most eyeshadow comes in sets of four to insure you have the right color combination. I will show you picture of each step of me applying it to know how and where to apply it and the reasons why you apply it in those specific areas.

Here I am using the City Color palette of 32 eyeshadows to demonstrate how to apply your eyeshadow. Eyeshadow number 1 is one of the lighter colors that will go all over the lid. Next is eyeshadow number 2 which is slightly darker. This color will go in your crease to create definition and dimension to your eyes. Eyeshadow number 3 is the deepest color which will go on the outer corners of the eyes or outer “v” as I like to call it. This will help give your eye some dimension.  Finally, eyeshadow number 4 will go on your brow bone and your inner corner for highlight which will make you look more awake and will make your eyes look bigger.
Down below I will take you step by step showing you which color eyeshadow to apply to each area of the eye and which brush to use.

Step 1: Use color number one and place it all over the lid up to the crease using a flat shade brush.

Step 2: Use color number two and place it in your crease with a fluffy crease brush. If you are wondering where your crease it, it is the hollow of your eyelid right under your bone. Sweep the color back and forth along your crease.

Step 3: Use color number three and place it in your outer “v” with a dome brush. The reason it is called the outer “v” is because you are creating a “v” with the shadow. You place the eyeshadow a little bit along the lash line and slightly up into the crease.

Step 4: Use color number four to apply to your brow bone and inner corner for highlight and to brighten you eyes.

Mascara

You’re probably thinking that mascara is super easy to apply and there’s no trick in particular. But let me be the first to tell you my friend, that there are some tips that you can follow to make your mascara look that much better than the average application.

There are two key steps to take when applying mascara. These are:

  1.   Wiggle the wand from left to right at the base of your lashes to insure that the product gets in the roots. It is putting mascara at the root and not the tip that gives the illusion on left.
  2. Pull the wand up and through your lashes while still wiggling the wand. Wiggling the wand will help your lashes separate and look voluminous.

What you could also do is close your eye and apply mascara to the tops of your lashes to get rid of any clumps and to also make them darker.

The main things to remember about mascara are that you should never be afraid to mix. You can use two or three mascara at once, go crazy. Also, don’t forget to curl your lashes if you wish using an eyelash curler. This step is optional but it will give your lashes a curled and showcased look.

It is optional to apply mascara to your bottom lashes although, never apply it from end to end if you do. You do not want it to look like “spider lashes” as I call them. Here are some photo examples of what you should do, and whayou shouldn’t do:

This is an example of what you should not do. There is too much mascara applied to the bottom lashes giving the illusion of having spider legs under your eyes.

This is am example of what you should do. There is just enough mascara on the bottom lashes to compliment your whole makeup look without looking like spider legs. You can see that she simply used the remaining mascara that was on her wand after applying mascara to the top lashes.

Next, to insure that you don’t get mascara on your beautifully done eyeshadow, a tip to do is to place a credit card or some sort of plastic card right at the root of your lashes on the top and then apply. This photo will further illustrate the action:

Eye Liner
Eye liner is a makeup product that not all girls use every day. But for other it is their staple look. There are many different types and styles to wear your eyeliner.

The different types of eyeliners you can get are pencil, liquid, gel or shadow. Pencil eyeliners tend to be more soft and easy to smudge which makes it great for a smoky eye. Liquid eye liners are for creating straight perfect lines, normally to create the illusion of fuller lashes or to simply line the eye by winging it out or keeping it simple. Gel eyeliner is applied with an angled brush; it is more intense in color and can be thick. Gel liner is great for creating a cat eye. And finally, you can use a deep shadow to line your lash line if you please.

What you would want to do while applying eyeliner is to start in the middle and go outwards. When you have perfected that area, then start from the inside of your eye and draw outwards to meet the previously created line. This will allow you to have a clean precise line.

There are plenty of different eyeliner styles that you can choose from. There is the cat eye, the smoky eye, the basic eye and the bold eye. It is up to you to choose which one you think looks best on your eye shape.

You are now fully educated on the basics of makeup. Now that we have covered the topic, let's now move on to 3 different makeup looks suitable for prom.

Lipstick

Hello again and welcome back to my blog! This post is all about lips. In this post, I will tell you everything there is to know about looking flawless wearing lipstick.

Before applying your lipstick you want to make sure that your lips are well exfoliated and moisturized to avoid creases and clumps in your lipstick.
Firstly, you do not want to play up both your eyes and your lips; you have to choose. If you wear both heavy eyes and lips you will look like a clown. If you wear a bright lip color, keep your eyes neutral and vice versa.

There isn’t any rule to applying lipstick. You can apply it with a lip brush, straight from the tube or with your fingers. As long as the color goes onto your lips, you’re good.

When wearing lipstick, you obviously want it to last as long as possible. For it to stay all day, a trick is to use lip liner as a base. Line your lips and then fill them in. Apply your lipstick overtop and it will last much longer than it would on its own.

If you want to make your lips appear fuller or “plump”, outline your lips with a lip liner just outside your natural lip line. Then dab a little bit of gloss in the middle of your bottom lip. This will give you full plump Angelina Jolie like lips.
When applying lipstick, you would normally apply a lip liner before or after. It is most commonly applied before lipstick but some people apply it afterwards to clean up the edges. But a little tip for you, your lips will look more natural when you apply lip liner after your lipstick. But one ultimate rule is to never wear dark lip liner with a lighter color lipstick. This is a big mistake and you will look tacky and quite frankly, like a clown.

It is always horrible when you get lipstick on your teeth. But don’t worry, I have a trick. Put your index finger in your mouth then pull it out. The excess lipstick that would have gone on your teeth is now on your finger.

If you have yellower teeth, try a lipstick with blue undertones. This will cancel out the yellowness in your teeth using complementary colors.

Now all there is left to do is go out and buy the perfect lipstick for you! :)

BLUSH

Hello girls! Many women avoid blush because they feel like it makes them look like a clown. But what it really does is make you look healthy and natural. By following these steps you can look fabulous on Prom night.

  • First thing to do is choose the color of blush you will use. You want to look natural and a trick to finding the right color is looking at the color of your cheeks after you have been exercising or have been out in the cold. For a quick test, pinch your cheeks and use the resulting color as a guide. Also, another trick is to match your blush to the color of your lips. Fair skin looks great in rose, olive skin looks great with peach and dark skin looks great in apricot or even red.
  • After choosing the right color, you need to choose the right formula for your skin type. Powder blush is best for those who have oily and combination skin. Cream blush is great for those with dry skin. Liquid and gel blushes are great for those with oily skin. For an even better result, you can combine cream and powder blush together. It helps your blush stay on longer since you are setting the cream with a powder just like you would with your foundation. Cheek stains are only good for well moisturized skin, not dry skin. Stains tend to dry very fast so you need to blend well and fast.
  • Apply your blush after your foundation, eye makeup, lipstick and powder. That way your blush is visible. Unless you want to look extremely natural, you can apply your blush first, even before foundation.
  • Make sure to use a blush brush. Do not use whatever powder brush you have. Make sure it is a legit blush brush to ensure that it will look great.
  • Tap your brush in the blush and make sure to tap off any excess powder before applying it to your face. You don’t want to put too much on at once. Or if you are using gel or cream, dab a pea size amount onto your fingers and blend it onto your cheeks.
  • To know where to apply it, look into a mirror and smile. You want to apply it on the apples of your cheeks which are the round part on each side of your nose when you smile as shown on the lovely lady down below. (This is a Google image)
  • If you have gone a bit too heavy with the powder blush, apply some translucent powder over top to calm down the intensity. If you applied too much cream blush, blot the color off with a tissue. If you used a gel or a stain, unfortunately the only way to get it off is by washing your face, moisturize and reapply your makeup.
  • When applying blush, you want it to go between your highlighter and your contouring bronzer.

Contouring and Highlighting

Hello again! Today I will be talking about highlighting and contouring your beautiful face in all the right ways.

First of all, you might be asking “what is contouring and highlighting?” Well, contouring is applying makeup on your face in specific places to define your silhouette and create the appearance of a slimmer face, straight nose, slender cheeks and more prominent cheekbones. Highlighting your face gives you the opposite effect of contouring also it helps to further enhance your face. It highlights certain areas making them more prominent and pronounced.

Let’s start contouring. What you want to do is use a brown colored or tan bronzer, shadow or product to contour your face. This can be in any consistency you wish like powder, cream or liquid. Be sure to always use a brown tone because it looks most natural and gives the illusions of a healthy tan and glow. It is up to you the characteristics of the bronzer. It can be matte, shimmery, powder, cream or liquid because it is your personal preference. The most commonly used is powder bronzer or eyeshadow since it gives the smoothest look, it blends easily and you have more control over the intensity that you build it up to. You want to be generous with the bronzer but do not go too crazy because then you will have an unflattering shadowy, fake and dark finish to your skin.

Now let’s take a look at Kim K to know where we apply the bronzer.

You are first going to want to contour right under your cheekbones. When applying you will want to slightly suck in your cheeks and apply the bronzer to the hollows of your cheeks. The brush you would want to use for this is a contour brush, evidently. But you can also use an angled blush brush or a large powder brush. Begin applying with a gentle hand to not overdue it.
Next, you will contour your nose. By doing so, your nose will appear slimmer. To apply the bronzer you would use a small eyeshadow brush in a thin line blending it out carefully.

Next, you will contour your forehead and temples. Use the same brush as you did for the hollows of your cheeks. Apply the bronzer to both of your temples and blend well.

Lastly, contour your chin. This will reduce the look of a double chin. Blend the bronzer right at your chin bones and down your neck and apply more as needed.

Let’s now move on to highlighting. So the purpose of highlighter is to pronounce certain areas of your face to further help define your features. To do so you will want to take a highlighter in any consistency you please that is lighter in color than your foundation and powder. You can use a small powder brush, an angled blush brush or even your fingers to apply your highlighter. You will want to apply it where the light would hit if you stood under a lamp. Take a look at the photo below to know where you should apply your highlighter.

Firstly, apply it down the bridge of your nose in a very thin line and blend well. Next, apply some highlighter to the very tip of your chin and blend downwards and outwards along your jaw line. Also apply it right above your cheekbones right above where you would apply your blush. Next you will highlight your upper and lower brow area. Don’t forget to blend well. And finally highlight your forehead in a triangle shape blending upwards and outwards.

Popular picks for highlighters are powder and illuminators. Liquid is also great because it gives a great finish and will really catch the light because of how the light reflects on the particles giving it a soft look.
By following these simple steps you can look absolutely fabulous for Prom! But don’t go anywhere; there are more makeup tips and tricks coming up on Prom Beauté.
